Dear Michael Leunig,
If I hadn’t fallen in love with an Australian I wouldn’t have met you. What a tragedy that would have been.
As newlyweds in Australia, my husband and I lay in bed reading your book Short Notes on the Long History of Happiness. We found it on our nightstand in Melbourne and before we returned from our honeymoon we made sure we bought a copy of our own.
I’ve committed to affirm people each day as Easter approaches but tonight I don’t have time to write about my husband. It’s Valentine’s Day. We’re off to bed.
But you! I can write about you quickly. Thank you for the oxygen this book gives to my soul. I appreciate how you observe life and see beneath it all. You really outdid yourself on this little gem.
